Resident Guidelines
  • Trash pickup day is Friday. Please keep all trash and trash containers stored out of view of the street. When placing your trash curbside for pickup, remember not to place it at the street before dusk on Thursday. All cans should be put away and stored out of view Friday evening. Trashcans, bags and bulk items such as carpet, appliances, furniture, cannot be placed on the GPOA common grounds for pickup. These items should be placed in front of your own home. Dumping on the common areas is subject to a removal fee. The city of Chesapeake requires they be notified by 4:30pm on Thursday for bulk item pickup. Their telephone number is 382-2489.

  • Paint, oil, transmission fluid, fertilizer, propane, etc. are considered hazardous materials.

  • These items cannot be picked up by the city. It is against the law to place them in your trash or on the curb for pickup. Call SPSA at 424-4297 for disposal options.

  • Proper lawn maintenance is critical to the overall appearance of your home. Lawns should be mowed frequently during growing season and weeds should be pulled or otherwise controlled. All hard surface areas, such as around the driveway or sidewalks, should be edged on a regular basis. Trash and leaves should be picked up on a continual basis.

  • Portable basketball goals cannot be used in the front of homes in River Birch Run, Mill Quarter or Woodgate Commons. The city of Chesapeake prohibits basketball playing in the street. The nearest public basketball courts to your neighborhood is at the Chesapeake City Park located off of Greenbrier Parkway.

  • Boats, trailers, campers, jet skis, etc. are not to be stored on the lot, unless they are stored in a garage or other approved outbuilding.

  • Vehicles should be parked in the driveway, garage (if available) or street only. Please do not park your vehicle in the lawn as this detracts from the appearance of your home and the neighborhood.

  • Loud music can be a nuisance for your neighbors. Please keep the music in your home and in your vehicle and your visitors' vehicles turned down. Please be mindful that your neighbors may have different work and sleep schedules than you.

  • There are six playgrounds located throughout the neighborhoods. For a list of their locations, please call the GPOA office at 547-9229. Many children, especially those age 12 and under, need to be supervised when playing at the parks. All of the parks close at dusk.

  • Motorized vehicles, including scooters and ATV's, are not allowed to be on the city or GPOA sidewalks. They could present a hazard for others and are often extremely loud.

  • If you have pets, please remember to pick up after them and to keep them on a leash when they are not in your yard.

  • Children's' toys, such as bikes, balls etc, and tools, coolers and other similar items should be stored out of view of the street when not in use. Do not keep these items in the driveway or on the front porch.

  • All residential streets in the city of Chesapeake have a speed limit of 25 MPH. Please keep your speed to a minimum when driving through the neighborhoods, especially when children are outside playing.

  • We hope you enjoy living in Greenbrier and encourage you to contact the GPOA office if you have any questions or concerns. Our telephone number is 547-9229 and our email address is gpoa@gpoahomes.org
